 THE 2020 ARMENIA- AZERBAIJAN WAR (AA WAR)




The COVID-19 pandemic continues throughout the world and the people of the Armenia and Azerbaijan are in panic state. This is not only because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The circumstances of people of these nations are worsening because of the conflict between these two nations at Nagorno-Karabakh vicinity and surroundings. The war casualties may be more than death caused by this pandemic.

This started on the morning of September 27, 2020, since when every country has claimed to have inflicted serious loss on its opponent. What’s different about the present day flare-up is that this is the first time that both nations have proclaimed martial law. According to the Warsaw-based Centre for Eastern Studies , the cutting-edge escalation used to be most likely initiated by Azerbaijan. Media reports have referred to that the clashes had been possibly fallout of Azerbaijan’s bid to reclaim some territories occupied by separatist Armenians. Due to the two wars waged by the nations in the previous century; one from 1918-1921 and other from 1988- 1994; the two have had strained relations. Casualties in AA WAR

For the more than 330,000 residents of Ganja brought horror;  the city used to be being shelled through forces conflict for Armenia. The residents had heard a massive explosion. It was shocking and dreadful. Children have been scared. The residents left apartments and went to  shelters. Separatists in Nagorno-Karabakh have advised residents of major Azerbaijani cities to leave, warning that army sites there are now legitimate targets. But Ganja resident Elnur Bayramov stated he and his family had been not scared. "We are not going to leave our house, our city, we are not going to become internally displaced people," he said. Nagorno-Karabakh's authorities have confirmed that 201 of their service personnel and a number of civilians have died since the conflict erupted on 27 September. Azerbaijan says 22 civilians have been killed, without providing facts about its army casualties. Meanwhile, Nagorno-Karabakh's authorities stated that they had destroyed Ganja's military airport. They stated they had acted after Stepanakert was hit by missiles and alleged the Ganja facility had been used by Azerbaijani forces to launch attacks on civilian areas.

Heavy casualties had been reported in Stepanakert, which was left without electricity, in accordance to Armen-press news agency. Buses of people had been seen leaving the town on Saturday. Armen-press quoted the separatist region's leader, Arayik Harutyunyan, as warning that "from now on the military amenities permanently deployed in Azerbaijan's main cities are legitimate targets of the defense army. Mr. Harutyunyan added that he had now ordered the shelling stopped, to prevent the deaths of innocent civilians. Turkey condemned the shelling of Ganja, accusing Armenia of "targeting civilians. But Armenian defense ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan stated that "that no fire of any sort is being opened from the territory of Armenia in Azerbaijan's direction. Armenia provides military and economic aid to Nagorno-Karabakh without officially recognizing the self-proclaimed region.
